Craftsmanship / Retrograde Second Movement Retrograde Second Movement

Calibre 560P is a self-winding mechanical movement, designed, developed and built at the heart of Manufacture Piaget, and boasting a complex retrograde seconds mechanism. The retrograde seconds sector in the 12 position traces an arc from 0 to 30, then jumps back – at 61 kilometers per hour! – to its starting point. And to think this little miracle happens 2,880 times per day…. Piaget devoted 24 months to the invention of this spectacular movement: engineers and master-watchmakers focused all their attention on the shock-absorption of the second-hand, leading to an in-depth study of the problem and stringent testing. This technical research was matched by the quest for esthetic perfection inherent in the watchmaker’s art. Calibre 560P is endowed with a full range of expertly crafted finishing details, such as circular Côtes de Genève decorations, stippled mainplate, bevelled and hand-drawn movement bridges, blued screws – all signature features of Haute Horlogerie from Piaget.
