Piaget Emperador Tourbillon
The elegant case of the large Piaget Emperador watch acts as the perfect recipient for the world’s thinnest tourbillon, which measures just 3.5 mm thick. The carriage, composed of 42 parts, weighs barely 0.2 grammes. It has been placed in an original position at 12 o’clock to echo the moon-phase display positioned exactly opposite, at 6 o'clock. The sapphire crystal case-back enables the beating heart of this watchmaker's masterpiece to be admired.
Piaget Emperador Tourbillon watch, large model. Case in 18 carat white gold. Sapphire crystal case-back. Piaget Manufacture, 640P, mechanical tourbillon movement. The world’s thinnest tourbillon, at just 3.5 mm thick. Moon-phase display. Numbered model.
It took the master watchmakers at Piaget a full three years to develop and perfect this calibre. Several patents have since been filed for the innovative solutions incorporated into this tourbillon. During its manufacture, a single watchmaker is responsible for finishing, assembling, casing-up and adjusting the movement by hand. The moon-phase disc has been crafted from lapis lazuli and the moon itself from gold.
