Retrograde Seconds Movements - Piaget Luxury Watchmaking

The Caliber 560P is an automatic mechanical movement featuring a complex retrograde second mechanism. It was designed, developed and assembled at the heart of the Piaget Manufacture. The retrograde second segment in the 12 position traces an arc from 0 to 30, then instantly jumps back – at 61 kilometers per hour – to its starting point. And to think that this little miracle happens 2,880 times a day! The Piaget team devoted 24 months to the invention of this spectacular movement. Its engineers and master watchmakers focused all their attention on the shock absorption for the second hand, carrying out an in-depth study and exacting tests on the issue. Their technical research was matched by their quest for esthetic perfection, an inherent part of the watchmaker’s art. The Caliber 560P is endowed with a full range of expertly crafted finishes, such as its round Geneva Seal, stippled mainplate, blued screws and beveled and hand-drawn movement bridges. These are all features of Piaget's haute horlogerie signature.
