Design: the cornerstone in the creative process
If Piaget first made its name thanks to its many innovative watch creations, the brand shows the same flair and creativity in its more conventional timepieces. The Manufacture has an in-house creation studio, which includes a team of eight designers who are given free rein when it comes to conceiving new models. On average about a hundred new watch references are launched each year. The development of a watch requires nearly a year’s work, from the first designs, presented in the form of gouache drawings, to the development into three-dimensional models, and culminating in the production of prototypes, which give a more precise idea of the technical and esthetic factors involved. Throughout these various stages engineers and designers work in close collaboration so that the creative spirit of the original sketches can be transformed into an exceptional watch creation.
