amfAR Gala Sao Paulo
Famed photographer Mario Testino receives Piaget Award of Inspiration
Piaget was proud to return to Brazil as a principle sponsor of the amfAR Inspiration Gala series in São Paulo. This year the glittering black tie affair honored Mario Testino. The renowned photographer and artist was presented with the Piaget Award of Inspiration by Hollywood icon, Sharon Stone, in recognition of his spirited advocacy for HIV/AIDS awareness and donated works that have raised millions of dollars for a number of AIDS research causes.
Held at the breathtaking home of Event Chair, Dinho Diniz, the gala dinner attracted a fashionable and glamorous crowd including Debbie Harry, Kenneth Cole, John Demsey, Felipe Diniz, Izabel Goulart, Luciano Huck, Isabeli Fontana and Alexandre Herchcovitch. Cocktails and dinner were served, and bossa nova sensation Bebel Gilberto sang. After the awards ceremony guests were also treated to a performance by the legendary Grace Jones.
The São Paulo gala raised an impressive $1,278,000 in valuable funding for amfAR’s innovative HIV/AIDS research programs. 2012 marks the third year of Piaget’s partnership with amfAR. The brand will continue its support with three remaining events to be held this year, including New York on June 7th followed by Paris and Los Angeles in the Fall.
