Geneva, October 25, 2013 - The Manufacture Piaget was awarded the Jury's 1st Prize for the Piaget Altiplano Date luxury watch, named "Watch of the Year 2013" by the magazine Montres Passion. This is a consecration for Piaget, for whom the ultra-thin watch has been one of the company's identifying 'signatures' since its very beginnings.

For over 50 years the Manufacture Piaget has continued its quest for the infinitely tiny, thus preserving its heritage as the Master of the ultra-thin watch and maintaining its founder's maxim: "Always do better than necessary". Today 23 of the 35 movements designed and developed by the Manufactures Piaget are ultra-thin movements, the majority of which hold historic records for thinness within the world of watchmaking.

A timeless watch with a classic sense of style, the Piaget Altiplano Date hosts the 1205P movement, the thinnest self-winding date movement in the world with a thickness of only 3.00 mm in a 6.36 mm case, a new double record.

Elegance and sobriety were the bywords for the aesthetic design of the Altiplano Date ultra-thin watch, a model of timeless purity and a truly classic timepiece that transcends all eras. Crafted in white gold, pink gold or gem-set pink gold versions, the 40 mm case has been specially designed to host the 1205P movement. This is a movement that features traditional finishes, with circular Côtes de Genève, a circular-grained plate, beveled bridges, sun-brushed wheels, blued screws and a dedicated regulator-assembly, together with a pink gold micro-rotor engraved with the Piaget coat of arms.

It was an emotional moment when Franck Tourzeau, Piaget's Director of Watch Marketing, accepted this evening (Friday October 25th) the 1st Prize for the Piaget Altiplano Date watch, named "Watch of the Year 2013", during the evening reception given by the magazine Montres Passion. The feeling of pride was all the more intense for the fact that in 2008 the Manufacture Piaget had already had the honor of being awarded the same prize for its iconic model, the Altiplano Petite Seconde watch.
