838D gem-set rose gold skeleton movement

An adaptation of the 838S skeleton movement, the 838D gem-set skeleton movement in rose gold is another ultra-thin hand-wound skeleton movement measuring just 3.1 mm thick and belonging to the third generation of ultra-thin movements from the watchmaker Piaget. Its bridges, drawn on both sides, once again offer a breathtaking view of all its components, including its balance with screws. Embodying the unique expertise of the watchmaker Piaget, the 838D gem-set skeleton movement is distinguished by the gem-setting of its ultra-thin bridges, an adornment demanding precise work of the highest order. Its mainplate is thus set with 174 diamonds and its screws are hidden by seven black sapphires or rubies cut into cabochons, emphasizing its exceptional visual impact. A guilloche design reminiscent of the sun and the divisions of time radiate from the center of the carriage, visible on the back of the movement. The circular-grained mainplate and bridges, hand-drawn and beveled, and the blued screws round off this exceptional movement, while remaining true to the aesthetic codes cherished by the Swiss watchmaking brand.
