The 882P movement is one of the thinnest chronograph movements available at only 5.6 mm thick. As part of the very exclusive world of major watchmaking complications the chronograph movement, is distinguished by its flyback mechanism, a highly precise function which allows for the chronograph to be reset without interruption. By one simple push, the minute and central seconds hands "fly back" to zero and automatically begin a new cycle. The 882P chronograph movement is enhanced with two barrels, a balance with screws, a balance stop and an oscillating weight decorated with a rose-colored Piaget coat of arms. It is also equipped with a second time zone (with 24-hour time display) placed at 9 o'clock. Its chronograph is governed by a column wheel, to coordinate all its phases, and a vertical clutch system assuring the utmost precision. The flat, overlapping surfaces of the two disks that make up the movement are driven directly, thus avoiding jumping needles and any unnecessary expenditure of the power reserve. To complete the movement's functions, the frequency has been increased for better precision. The circular Côtes de Genève, the circular-grained mainplate, the beveled bridges, the blued screws and the rose oscillating weight engraved with the Piaget coat of arms round off this exceptional movement, while remaining true to the esthetic codes cherished by the Swiss watchmaking brand.
