Others may use gold, diamonds, colours and have technical know-how… but no one has imagined them like Piaget.
Originally a manufacture of watch movements in the small village of La Côte-aux-Fées, Piaget built its reputation through its style and inventiveness. Combining jewellery with watchmaking expertise, Piaget creations would quickly stand out for their audacity, their allure and their technical prowess. Drawing its inspiration from the nature surrounding it, Piaget has chosen to express its incomparable creative freedom through a medium like no other: gold.
In 1957, Piaget unveiled the 9P, one of the thinnest mechanical movements ever at 2mm thin. Such a performance deserved the most precious of cases, in gold... a case that would build Piaget’s legend and allow it to say “Piaget time is measured only in gold". In the 60’s, in order to express its creativity independently, the Maison acquired various ateliers in the Geneva region, thus mastering the work of gold throughout its creative process.

In 2001, Piaget’s ambition to elevate creativity even higher led it to build a new Manufacture in Plan-les-Ouates. In these Ateliers de l’Extraordinaire, Artisans specialized in breath-taking watchmaking and sophisticated goldsmithing create the Maison’s daring timekeepers and bold High Jewellery. Today, Piaget is still one of the few Maisons to have its own foundry. To guarantee the perfection of its creations, the purity and the ethics of Piaget gold are meticulously controlled, whether yellow, rose or white.
Within its goldsmithing atelier, the Maison welcomes rare and complementary experts, from foundry craftsmen, engravers, polishers, chain makers and gem-setters to the world’s greatest jewelers. It is here that rare skills are preserved, enriched and perpetuated from generation to generation. Each luxury watch and jewellery creation is designed and created like a work of art, giving meaning to the motto of the founder, “Always do better than necessary".
