Gem-Setting
Piaget’s workshop - the largest in Geneva - has earned a worldwide reputation for impressive craftsmanship. Every stone here is cut, adjusted and set by hand. Invisible settings, pin or peg settings, inverted-stone settings, closed settings, prong or claw settings – a vast array of technical skills is available on-site, allowing Manufacture Piaget to let inspiration lead the way and meet the specific aesthetic requirements of each piece of jewellery. Which explains how Piaget is able to rise to the most impossible challenges, such as the creation of a semi-spherical watch with an invisible setting, resembling a mirrored ball, or a “fringe” watch as supple as a piece of fabric. Sometimes a piece of jewellery has to be designed around an exceptional stone discovered by the company’s gemmologists. Thus begins an astonishing creative process aimed at effectively showcasing the gem while taking account of all of its specific characteristics: shape, carat weight, cut and colour.
