Julia Ormond wears Piaget for New Nork premiere of “kit kittredge: an American girl”

New York, NY--- Leading actress, Julia Ormond, looked stunning on the red carpet at last night's New York premiere of her new film "Kit Kittredge: An American Girl", co-starring, Abigail Breslin, Chris O'Donnell, Stanly Tucci and Joan Cusak.

Pretty in pink, Julia Ormond selected Piaget's dazzling 31 ct pink tourmaline, sapphire, and diamond white gold cocktail ring which was flown in especially for the evening from the firm's new Las Vegas boutique. She paired it with Piaget's Magic Gardens white gold "Rose Motif" earrings paved in 206 brilliant cut diamonds, all perfectly accenting her simple, chic black Moschino dress.

Ms. Ormond has fallen in love with Piaget since wearing the house's jewelry at the 61st Annual Cannes Film Festival earlier this year. She will wear Piaget diamonds again this weekend in Berlin for the premiere of her film "Surveillance", also starring Bill Pullman.

With Piaget's dedicated support of cinema and the arts, their world renowned fine jewelry and timepieces continue to be a favorite of Hollywood's best and brightest.

Piaget Time Gallery

A chance to discover Piaget’s DNA from 1874 to the present day through a hundred or so models and historical documents: such is the experience now offered by the “Piaget Time Gallery”. This new showcase, located just above the Piaget boutique at 40, Rue du Rhône in Geneva, will be opening its doors to the public on June 17th.
“Piaget, une belle histoire” is an amazing journey in time that takes visitors through an array of extremes ranging from elegant discretion to festive exuberance, backed up by consistently respected and perpetuated values. Rigorous standards, determination and faith in the power of creativity are the guiding themes of the first exhibition in the “Piaget Time Gallery”. The brand has opted for a chronological approach in portraying its heritage.
The “Piaget Time Gallery” is a welcoming place conducive to exchanges. Accessible from the Piaget boutique, this exhibition area lends a whole new dimension to this prestigious location. While it naturally provides an additional 180 square metres, space is by no means the predominant factor. Piaget’s primary purpose in opening this gallery – the first expression of a new concept that is to spread to other continents – is to reinforce its relationship with the public and to broaden it by sharing its values, its culture, its expertise and its history.
Designed by architect Gérard Barrau who also created the worldwide Piaget boutique concept, this new area dedicated to the brand heritage forms a continuous and harmonious whole with the ground floor. The pure lines of the furniture and the materials – wood, aluminium and stone – are highlighted by picture windows providing generous daylight and creating a warm, muted environment.
While all the pieces in this exhibition hold a special significance within the rich and beautiful history of Piaget, some have also made an indelible imprint on the history of watchmaking and jewellery as a whole. Such is in particular the case for the watches equipped with Calibre 9P and the famous 12P movement which earned the brand a place in the 1957 Guinness Book of Records as the world’s thinnest self-winding movement. Piaget perpetuates this expertise in the field of ultra-thin models and provides an eloquent demonstration of this talent with the Piaget Emperador tourbillon watch, featuring a skeletonised shaped movement which, at just 3.5 mm, is the thinnest in the world in its category.
One might also mention the first timepieces with dials in hard stones such as onyx, turquoise, coral or malachite. The jewellery watches on display highlight the incredible gem-setting expertise of the artists exercising their craft in the Piaget workshops. One of the most amazing models in this collection is a 1967 model in yellow gold, diamonds and emeralds complete with a jade dial, and which belonged to Jackie Onassis. This creation was bought back by Piaget at the famous auction of her personal possessions in New York in 1996.
Through this initiatory journey, the exhibition also reveals the history of the first jewellery created by the brand. First of all, the jewellery created to complement the watch models, and then the full-fledged collections with the famous Possession line and its playful “ring in a ring” concept.
The Piaget heritage is also revealed through other treasures such as posters, booklets, catalogues, photos and archives from the Piaget family or La Côte-aux-Fées, the brand’s birthplace.
“Piaget, une belle histoire” will be on show in the “Piaget Time Gallery” until September 2008. The exhibition will then travel to Hong Kong, where the second “Piaget Time Gallery” is due to open, since the brand intends to develop this concept for its flagship boutiques around the world. These havens of culture and hospitality will each in turn offer fresh perspectives on the watchmaker-jeweller and its rich heritage through travelling exhibitions. Other slices of history, other facets of a brand in which glamour, tradition and boldness play a key role.
