Behind the world’s thinnest mechanical watch, the Altiplano Ultimate Concept, is an ultra-thin hand-wound mechanical movement, the 900P-UC. The timepiece’s thinness is made possible thanks to the fusion of the case with the movement, which allows for the back of the case to become the main plate that supports the movement. This daring work of engineering testifies to Piaget’s motto to “Always do better than necessary" in the quest to produce thinner and sleeker watches.
