Another showcase of ‘Extravaganza’ is unveiled as Piaget opens a new boutique at St. George’s Building in Central – Hong Kong’s pulsating heart where finance, history and culture converge.
CELEBRATION OF ARTISTIC MASTERY AND SAVOIR-FAIRE
The succession of spaces is neatly defined by design codes, while the flow of sinuous lines suggests a continuum of rhythm, as with the Art Wall by French artist Caroline Perrin. The mural series is composed of waves in gold and gemstone colours; their organic forms, imbued with nuanced textures and shimmering movement, pay homage to the Maison’s creative audacity and craftsmanship.
SENSE OF ARTISTIC SOPHISTICATION
Created by Julien Gautier, Meilleur Ouvrier de France (a title awarded to top craftsmen in France), the fresco is a piece of Ceiling Sky hovering above the luminous space. The veins of Malachite are painted in beige-gold, evoking Piaget’s mastery in sublimating ornamental stones, with undulating vortexes of lines that invite a hypnotic sense of wonder.
ARTISTRY AND EMOTIONS MEET AT THE WATCH AREA
The flow of the space eases out as the blue Elegance of Watchmaking Wall invites visitors to admire the Maison’s signature horological icons as tokens of watchmaking excellence. For the first time in a Piaget boutique, an alternate run of high-gloss burl wood panels creates stark contrasts in shape and texture. Highly prized for its swirling grain patterns, this exotic wood is another emblematic choice of material for Piaget’s watch dials after hard stones. Coupled with golden outlines, the use of burl wood and its contrasts to the adjacent velvety blue panels underscores the repetition of geometric patterns that define the Art Deco movement.
