Our Self-winding Mechanical
Movements

Our 1950s iconic caliber, the 12P self-winding mechanical movement, has since inspired a series of extremely thin calibers from the 500P to the 1200P. These movements are the legacy of our well-refined expertise and the driving force behind our continued push for innovation and technique in automatic mechanical movements; putting us at the forefront of pioneering Fine Watchmaking.

The automatic watch comes into its own

In its permanent quest for excellence, the Manufacture explored many of the possibilities offered by automatic movements. Often devised around an off-center micro-rotor, they were fashioned in gold, steel or platinum and encased in finely decorated housings, with skeleton and even gem-set variations. Part of the history of luxury watches belongs to automatic movements, which initially appeared in their simplest guise. Numerous complications were then added, from the simplest to the most complex: simple or perpetual calendar, moon phases, retrograde second, double time zones, flyback chronograph – even the tourbillon and minute repeater. All added further weight to Piaget’s impressive canon within the realm of automatic watches.
