At the beginning of Piaget’s history, there were no colors or gold yet. Until 1957, the Maison launched the 9P, one of the thinnest hand-wound mechanical movement. The thinness of the movement allowed for larger dials and more surface area for creative exploration. This mastery started to open new playground for the Piaget family.

1963, opal, turquoise, coral, tiger’s eye – as magnetic colors and gemstones that caught the eye of the era’s tastemakers, Piaget started the experiment of bringing ornamental stones as elements of surprise on the case or on the dial, revolutionizing how colors were used in watchmaking. In 1996, Piaget unveiled its first ornamental dial watches, a testament to the skills of its stonecutters who were able to slice these delicate stones in such a way as to celebrate their unique beauty.

Unveiled at the Basel Watch Fair in 1969, the 21st Century collection, a series of one-of-a-kind jewelry watches, showcased not only Piaget’s audacity in fusing watch, jewelry, fashion and contemporary designs, but also dazzling colors such as lapis, malachite, corals, and more.
