Vibrant colours: chromatic brilliance at the heart of Piaget
At Piaget, colour is far more than a decorative element. It is a bold expression of creativity - a signature that radiates through each Swiss watch. Timepieces and high jewellery watches come together in a seamless dialogue, blending expert craftsmanship with the magic of precious stones. Opal, turquoise, lapis lazuli, tiger’s eye, and coral adorn dials and cases, giving life to diamond watches with striking visual impact.
A colorful legacy rooted in watchmaking finesse
The story of Vibrant Colours begins with a pivotal moment in Piaget’s history. In 1957, the Maison launched the 9P movement, one of the world’s thinnest hand-wound mechanical calibers. This ultra-thin movement opened new creative possibilities, allowing artisans to design larger dials - true blank canvases for artistic expression.
By 1963, Piaget was revolutionizing the use of colour by incorporating ornamental stones directly into dials and cases. This bold approach turned each Swiss watch into a one-of-a-kind work of art.
In 1969, Piaget unveiled the 21st Century Collection at the Basel Fair, taking this vision even further. Combining precious stones like lapis lazuli, malachite, and coral with bold, modern forms, Piaget introduced gold watches and diamond watches that redefined traditional watchmaking. These precious stone watches marked a new aesthetic where colour triumphed over convention.
A dazzling spectrum of expression
The Vibrant Colours palette captures a joyful, festive spirit - an echo of a culturally dynamic and stylistically bold era. The collection quickly won over the Piaget Society - a circle of artists, designers, actors, and musicians including Andy Warhol, Ursula Andress, and Alain Delon. Their daring personalities and effortless chic style found a perfect match in these high jewellery watches, which became true symbols of self-expression.
In 1996, Piaget took another bold step with the introduction of its first watches featuring ornamental stone dials, crafted through the expert hands of master gem cutters. Each stone is meticulously cut to reveal its natural beauty, giving rise to diamond watches of rare expressiveness. These creations embody the perfect fusion of technical mastery and radiant colour.
Jewellery expertise in service of colour
At Piaget, every Swiss watch is shaped by exceptional jewellery-making savoir-faire. The precise setting of stones and the meticulous work on dials reflect a level of expertise rarely seen. Each high jewellery watch is the result of close collaboration between watchmakers, artisans, and gem-cutters.
Vibrant Colours showcases this remarkable ability to combine the natural beauty of gemstones with technical performance. Each diamond watch blends refinement with a colorful boldness that defies minimalism. Through its precious stone watches, Piaget affirms its singular identity in the world of horology - where colour becomes a true driving force of design.
